The Chains Are Broken, Set the Captives Free

*Richard Connects a faint smile tugs on one side of his mouth*

Well today brings both joy and sadness. We finally caught that Sansha Devil her warp drive had broken thanks to some of my crews rebellion in her hanger and she was unable to leave in a hurry. Seeing the advantage me and some of my companions in the ILF scanned her down and commenced an attack.

Before this point I had caught her on grid but far off on two separate occasions on one of these occasion I scanned her cargo hanger and confirmed once and for all that she had taken my 90 strong crew, along with a small group of 57 civilians which she must of abducted off some small outpost.

The Scan Showed this.

- Crew - 90

- Marines - 40
- Freedom Fighters - 25
- Pilots - 22
- Janitors - 3

- Raid Victims - 57

- Homeless - 20
- Refugees - 24
- Janitors - 13

Sadly as we landed on grid she started jettisoning the captives in cans and then proceeded to shoot them. Out of the original group we lost 15 to the lasers of the Phantasm and then 13 more died in intensive care.

So to summarise we only had a success rate of 81% having lost 28 souls to the Sansha agent, that said she was destroyed and her body was left in the cold darkness of space.

Let us all remember without the fine work of Bataav, Daniel Alpena and Yumi Hikare none of the captives would of been freed.

Survivors

Sansha

*Connects Richard is wearing a serious countenance and looks worried*

We have a clue as to the where a bouts of the missing crewmen. A message was intercepted by the ILF intelligence that the Sansha forces currently operating in the Woenckee constellation may have sent an agent into the Intaki system. We are currently waiting for confirmation, if this is indeed the case our mystery will be solved though with undoubtedly terrible consequences.

Update On Missing Crew

*Richard connects he looks tired and distressed*

My colleague Daniel Alpena found the wreckage of my Legion and salvaged what he could from the remains. His report also indicates a lack of dead bodies or in fact any sign of the crew at all. There has also been no ransom or communication which can help me understand their fate but it is obvious that some third-party must be at work here. I hope against hope that I do not find Blood Raiders at the end of this path.

MIA Presumed Dead

*Conects his face shows signs of redening around the eyes and a grim look of angered determination is etched into his face*

Sometimes things don't go to plan and sometimes they just go horribly wrong, about two days ago I finished basic training for a T3 cruiser the wait was a long one and I was pleased when it was finally complete. Just like many pilots do I had the ship fitted and ready to take out for a trial run. Well last night was my first real opportunity and I took it.

Well we all know what happened next it is the same old story across the universe of New Eden. This however painful financially ((And I always fly by the first rule of eve)) was not what made me the way I am at this moment. My crew were lost entirely not a single survivor from what can be ascertained the wreck was lost and looted and also left in a very hostile area so we may never know for sure.

The attacker made no hail in local and merely appeared next to me and though I attempted to escape I also performed a pre-emptive strike to cover my retreat. Nothing however could be achieved and in moments I was scrambled, webbed and neuted and all I could do was watch, as my ship exploded around me.

Under normal circumstances my crew should of been able to escape but as of yet I have not heard from a single one of them and considering my position in space at the time of destruction I should of heard from them hours ago. I probably sound like I have given up and sadly as the situation feels so hopeless I must say my determination is beginning to faulter.

Tactical Musings

There are some who would say the ILF is not unlike many of the other capsuleer groups that occupy the Placid region. This for the most part is entirely untrue when hailed by a fearful militia pilot the other day it took some time for me to explain why now that I had killed the pirate in system I had no plans to turn my hostile attention to said pilot. The idea that we as pilots of the ILF follow the ROE set out on our corporation description really does seem to astound some people.

Keeping the peace in the Placid region is a very varied job. Things often go from dead to overwhelming in a very short period of time, thus maintaining a constant battle readiness approach is generally considered good practice. It is also important to vary your methods of destruction as you will often find yourself up against the same opponents time and time again. This style of combat means constantly trying out new fits for ships, without going into specifics commonly this can means using ships for roles they were never originally favoured for, turning a long range specialist into a brawler turning an exploration vessel into a sturdy tackle ship. Such tactics though reckless do often achieve results be they catastrophic or successful.

Thus losses are common and though painful they are considered to be part of our learning curve to become better pilots this is not to make light of the crew men and women lost in such destruction it is just a hard truth of our existence. We are not alone in these tactics, many of our opponents have similar practices though unlike us their pool of targets for testing there ships on is much more varied.

Well I seem to of meandered around some point for long enough but I guess my basic message is if a member of the ILF is in local you only have to worry if your a pirate, criminal flagged, -5 or below or if you have shot us before, so until we meet under such circumstances,

pratya yavati and fly safe.

Going Nowhere Risking Everything

Sitting down on a stool I began to observe the other occupants in the bar. There were a few of us in residence, to an average baseliner we were no different to anyone else. To each other however we were obvious. I managed a slight nod to the girl seated at the opposite corner of the bar and shared look with the man by the pool table. Out in space either of these two might of attacked me without a second glance but now in a bar full of baseliners there was a sense of union and acceptance.

I smiled at the girl behind the bar, she was tall and dark haired. One of her ears, her left, was encrusted with a mix of something between jewellery and circuitry. Implants were slotted into her neck in a combination of professional and obviously amateur jobs. Her arms, one of which was a cybernetic modification, were held loosely at her sides and her face held a look of general disinterest.

"Namas young lady may I have a dark rum on ice and a bottle of Quafe." She grinned back at me, "Lady, well that's a new one, I guess it's a mark up from honey or sweetly." She turned and started to prepare the drinks cracking open the Quafe with one metallic hand and scooping ice into the other glass with her normal one. She placed the drinks in front of me and went on to serve her next customer.

Before I had even got the glass to my mouth I could smell the intoxicating perfume of the drink, knocking it back in one I the took two swigs from the bottle of Quafe. As the alcohol hit the bloodstream my body relaxed slightly and for a second the aches and pains felt less but then the sensation was gone...

Drinking in station bars can be dangerous especially without body guards but surprisingly enough many capsuleers do it despite the dangers I guess the risk adds some extra adrenaline to the experience maybe it's just because watching the baseliners just reminds us how human we are.

((OOC)) An Apology

An Apology
((OOC))
Ok so I would like to start the year by saying sorry for my silence over the last 2 months, work plus exam preparation both took up a large amount of my time and completely ruined my appetite for writing. A second apology to all those who I promised a special post in the new year it's not ready yet I had it planned I wrote 800 words but it's just not there yet it also was a victim of my lack of appetite.

Now I would like to say thanks to those who have been reading over last year you are the ones who make it worthwhile and it's also always great to hear from you.
Also as its new year I will make a resolution to post a lot more this year though I might slip a little OOC in as well as the RP but we shall see.
